Grants for Charitable Contributions & Sponsorships

Relypsa supports charitable and sponsorship activities of healthcare organizations that are focused on hyperkalemia and associated conditions. Through such efforts, we aim to improve patient care, encourage disease awareness, and educate healthcare organizations and professionals.

Relypsa does not support grants for certain purposes, including:

  • Promotional purposes related to sales and/or marketing of Relypsa products
  • Political or religious purposes
  • Individuals, or on behalf of individuals, including a healthcare professionals’ activities, interests or expenses
  • Parties, social events, or tickets for sporting events or entertainment

Request Process and Requirements                             

All organizations seeking a charitable contribution or sponsorship from Relypsa must submit a request to at least 90 days before related activities are to begin. Compliant grant submissions should include the following:

  • A proposal on the letterhead or signature block of the 510(c)(3) organization requesting the charitable contribution
  • The name and contact information of the recipient organization, a primary contact person, and the charitable organization’s tax ID number

Evaluation of Requests

Relypsa’s Grant Review Committee reviews requests from qualified organizations and funds activities based on the following criteria:

  • Potential to improve the treatment of conditions that can have a serious impact on people’s lives or be life-threatening; these include hyperkalemia, hyperthyroidism, celiac disease, side effects of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and hemochromatosis (excess iron absorption from food)
  • Value the organization brings to its community through proposed activities, and whether the specific program to be funded furthers that organization’s mission
  • The program’s compliance with certain standards, including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Guidance on Industry-Supported Scientific and Educational Activities, the AACME Standards for Commercial Support of Continuing Medical Education, and the PhRMA Code on Interactions with Healthcare Professionals
