Relypsa's current drug candidates are proprietary non-absorbed polymers, where the polymer itself provides the drug function. By preventing systemic uptake of specific biologic molecules, our polymeric drugs are designed to act locally in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract and clear the human body through the digestive system.   Since Relypsa’s compounds are not absorbed into the bloodstream, side effects are typically limited, which leads to potentially improved safety profiles.   In addition, we are able to design therapeutic candidates for enhanced  ease of patient use and compliance.
